Morbus Paget
Bone Marrow
Haematoxylin & Eosin (H&E)
69 years
69-year old male patient with a partially osteolytic and osteosclerotic process in the right os ileum.
Hypocellular bone marrow showing irregular and disorganized bony trabeculae exhibiting increased numbers of irregular cement lines (so-called mosaic pattern). The trabeculae are lined by prominent osteoblastic rims. In addition, one can appreciate numerous multinucleated osteoclastic giant cells causing bone resorption. Note peritrabecular collagenous fibrosis.
