Cyclin D1-positive small cell plasma cell myeloma
Bone Marrow
Haematoxylin & Eosin (H&E)
72 years
Monoclonal gammopathy Type IgG kappa.
Hypercellular bone marrow with infiltration by a population of small, monotonous plasmacytoid cells in a nodular arrangement. Displacement of the normal hematopoesis and arrosion of the trabecular bone.
The plasma cell population is positive for CD38, Cyclin D1, CD20 and shows a light chain restriction kappa.
The cytomorphology of small plasma cells is often associated with a positivity for CD20 and Cyclin D1 and has been described in 15-20% of plasma cell myelomas.
