Bone Marrow
70 years
70-year old male patient with a CLL diagnosed 4 months ago. Bone marrow biopsy was performed before starting treatment due to B-symptoms and symptomatic lymphadenopathy.
The neoplastic lymphoid cells also stain for CD5.
Staining for cyclin D1 was negative.
Aberrant expression of CD5 is typically seen in CLL. However, this phenotype is also observed in mantle cell lymphoma.
