Interstitial and nodular infiltration by a mantle cell lymphoma (infiltration volume 50%).
Bone Marrow
Cyclin D1
73 years
73-year old female patient with a suspicion for Non-Hodgkin-Lymphoma. A CT scan revealed enlarged iliac lymph nodes.
The lymphoid cells exhibit strong nuclear positivity for cyclin D1.
Lymphoma cells were positive for CD20 and CD79a. In addition, they revealed a co-expression of CD5. CD23 was negative.
Expression of cyclin D1 is highly specific for mantle cell lymphoma. A novel highly specific marker for mantle cell lymphoma is SOX11, which is also expressed in a majority of cyclin D1 negative mantle cell lymphomas.
