Hemangioma with sclerosis. Incidental bile duct adenoma.
Haematoxylin & Eosin (H&E)
50 years
50 year old male patient with a liver mass on radiologic examination.
Resection specimen showing a sharply delineated vascular lesion with partial sclerosis. There is no endothelial atypia. In addition, there is a proliferation of bile ductules located in a portal tract showing absence of atypia or invasion. The surrounding parenchyma shows some degree of steatosis.
BRAF V600E mutations are found in about half of the cases of bile duct adenomas (Histopathology 2015 Oct;67(4):562-7 and Hepatology 2015 Jan;61(1):403-5.)
